Uttaranchal is the 27th State of the Republic of India. Uttaranchal borders China in the north and Nepal to the east, Himachal Pradesh to the west and Uttar Pradesh in the south.
Uttaranchal was a part of Uttar Pradesh till 2000 and is also known as Dev Bhoomi. The jewel in the crown of this tranquil and culturally strong state is Rudrapur, the District Center of Udham Singh Nagar . An ancient township, the Karam Bhoomi of Mahatma Rudra , has been settled many times in the past. The latest impetus was given by Jawaharlal Nehru and his Tarai settlement scheme in the 50s. The original inhabitants of Rudrapur, the Tharus and other tribals were as it is vacating the area due to disease and wild animals. The tarai settlement Scheme brought the Punjabis and Sikhs to the area. A hard working agrarian community, they ‘populated’ Rudrapur ,so much so, that it has now become a mini-Punjab. With the Green revolution, it became the Basmati Rice Bowl of India with over 500 Rice Shellers. 2-3 Sugar Mills and other agro based industries.
Seeing that Rudrapur was only 230 km from the National Capital of New Delhi, well connected by Road, Rail and Air (with the airport at Pantnagar), the State Government under the aegis of SIDCUL (State Industrial Corporation of Uttaranchal Limited) set up a 300 hectare Industrial area, giving a 10 year Tax and excise Holiday to all units setting up their manufacturing facilities here.
Almost all the big Industrial houses of the country are setting up their units here. Tata Motors is setting up their own SEZ for the dream car project in an area of over 100 acres. Others like NESTLE’, BRITANNIA, PARLE, DABUR, M&M , HCL, MICROSOFT, BAJAJ, GREENPLY etc. have already set up their units. A total of 394 companies have registered their units at Rudrapur. Add to this the BIOTECH and SOFTWARE PARK and the additional Industrial Areas where companies like ASHOK LEYLAND etc are putting up their plants, one finds that Rudrapur is all set to become the Industrial Hub of North India. So much so that it has been touted as the fastest growing city in the country !!
The current population of Rudrapur is around 2 lacs and is expected to increase to about 20 lacs by 2013. This includes the employees of the factories, their families and other people providing essential services, like Doctors, Transporters, businessmen, shopkeepers, lawyers, Accountants etc. This growing population would require homes, hospitals, shopping centers, and all infrastructure required in any modern town of the country.
With the amount of investment coming into such a small place, it is obvious that Rudrapur will be the preferred destination for Business. Buying a home or a commercial site in Rudrapur would seem like a wise investment.
